Dunno about the whole, one weapon here one there, thing though. I have seen there being space for more on the HUD so hopefully it's only in the alpha, they don't get more lasers.

So, the open or public or whatever they call it beta is now.
As long as you pre-order, of course. Been at it a few hours. It's good fun. Except when you go for some trading, and suddenly can't jump back to where you came from because the increased mass of the stuff in your hold makes you use too much fuel. One could Frameshift (super cruise mode) I guess, but the limit is 2000c. So that's what.. almost a day to go 5 light years? And I don't know if it'll use more fuel overall. I haven't found out if you can do lesser jumps, because apparently it's more fuel efficient to do more shorter jumps than a big one.

That doesn't make sense really, I would imagine any jump type drive would require the most energy in the entering hyperspace


But balance wise it does, less time=more energy

Yep. But any of the craft I've flown this far has had no possibility of "skipping" a system to get to another. Range is about 6 light years.

So they are trying to got for a X3 feel where you had to travel through systems with a hyperdrive you could jump instantly to were you wanted to go but it cost a ton of energy-cells along the line of 100 per system and past 10 systems it went up to 1000.

So it was cheaper just to fly through a few systems then jump if you was going a looooooong ass distance.

Err.. seems like it's engine dependent. And mass dependent. So an engine can use X fuel for a jump max. If that amount of fuel isn't enough to move your mass (including the mass of your fuel) to the place you want to go, you can't jump there.

Saw someone play one of the biig cargo ships, and he could jump frigging everywhere. So big engine, or efficient engine.

My current engine can only use .8 tons of fuel max for a jump. But I have much more fuel than that. So I can actually jump longer if I'm at half tank. And less equipment and cargo.

Got new fancy hotas set up and shit. But my PC is still in the shitcan. I'm troubleshooting like hell. 18 hour memtest reveals... nothing wrong!
On to more bsod dump analysis. Sending them off to some tech heads on some microsoft forum.

Am also trying to quit snus, and dropped and killed my pad last week. So, not having the best of days!

I have o find a a decent throttle and pedals to play this with that matches my current joystick. Dont really fancy shelling out for another joystick i love the one i have.

Is this worth getting an Oculus Rift for? Im seriously considering it, since its actually going to be cheaper getting a rift than +2 additional screens, and it also works for dcs black shark 2.

Also on a side ntoe, my friend works for this game doing the cockpit models. Really glad to see hes made it - glad he didnt help on mwll!

Oculus rift is still just a Dev kit $300 for something that needs LOTS of tweaking to get right, it's pretty bare bones...I think in a year or 2 it will be well worth it though

Also, it will be supported in StarCitizen....for now you could get trackIR, $170 and it's stupid easy to setup and calibrate.....makes 1moniter work fine, you also won't get massive motion sickness from it if the game isn't totally setup for it like OcR

Seriously, my friend's cousin or something has a oculus rift. Doing nothing with it, so my friend nabbed it. Checked out some demos, then went straight for the porn. It's.. interesting apparently.

I won't get the rift until it's retail. Like Yalk says, it needs work.

PC still not working right. Wow. just glanced at clock. 09:09 09.09.2014

Anyway, I can boot windows, but as soon as I try to update or anything it bsods. I have 112 important updates in windows update. 54 optional.
My secondary drive (with the space and the gamz) makes windows not boot at all, so that's a no go. I'm a bit tired of it at this point in time tbh.

No idea what would be wrong with it and Im no computer wizz, but have you tried checking your RAM sticks as a friend of mine had PC problems and narrowed it down to Hardware as such in one of his RAM blocks, he had to take out each one and test them individually to see what one he had to replace.

Just a wild suggestion but like I said Wizard powers fail to exist.

Yeah mate. I've ran an 18 hr ram test. They are fine at least. Have a new clean windows install now. Haven't bsodded yet, but chckdisk went nuts at the first reboot after installing motherboard drivers and nvidia drivers.

Gonna post this post, then click on the update button and see what special kind of hell I'm tossed into.

bsods as soon as I touch something to do with windows or drivers. Stable enough as long as I don't do shit. I'm thinking the MB got a whacking from my fuse blowing when I was on vacation.

Dang if its Mobo then its more or less PC dead entirely. (unless of course you replace it) I remember my old PC when the CPU melted and fused with the Mobo, booting up took an afternoon and then trying to do anything cause it to just stare blankly into a void with perpetual confusion.

Mind you the CPU was built into the mobo with no ventilation and part the reason why everything was fucked up.

Seriously who ever the engineer who designed it and thought the layout was a fantastic idea should be sentenced to death by Mortar Team.

This should have been planned better. Eagles aren't really meant to go across galaxies.
If he had a fuel scoop, the stupendously massive star looming in through the canopy would sort everything. However on such a ship, it's that or shields. Clearly not an option when bounties are your main source of revenue.

Commander IceVamp turned the nose of his Eagle from the behemoth star in front of him, towards the black, and warmed up his frameshift drive.
Hopefully, luck indeed favours the bold.

Last night was pretty fun. Met up with Riviera and Matt in LP 751-1. Boiled some bounties, and ran from the police.

Unfortunately, having written plenty of these RP blurbs (very good btw) I know it's never as fun as it sounds


Still not convinced this won't get dropped and never played again in a couple more weeks...


Edit: that sounded awful cynical, I just don't have the funds to piss away after PC purchase and I'm not sure my next game purchase shouldn't be something else instead...I've read too many conflicting things to have a good grasp on if I (or you guys) are/would actually (really truly) have/ing fun...or if it's a case of "the new shiny"


Also, I am interested in this, and keep debating getting it, why I keep visiting this thread and responding...

We've talked at lenght about it so you know my viewpoint.

The RP blurb; It was kinda fun. I mean, the threat of being lost in space basically, was looming. Only difference was I had Matt on TS, not that he was much help, being 120 light years away. I was making my way there.

On the upside, I made around 10k from all the exploration data I sold when I got there.

I have a fuel scoop on my Viper though. And it is much more expensive to run than an Eagle, so it's very handy. Every time I frameshift and am not in a hurry, I take a round around the star to replenish my stores.

I did abandon an assassination contract worth 130k, just as I got a lead to his location, by mistake though. Curses.

Will give Robyn something to buy me, will give the game a patch or 2 more (more player interaction) and I'll enjoy it more as a present than a purchase.

Well its a known fact that I generality suck balls at vidya games, but should the opportunity arise then I probably would get this as I do have fond memory's of playing the original Elite and Frontier (Elite 2) on my old Amiga.

At the current moment though it would be a wasted action had I do not yet have a PC to play this on. That will be remedied soon though as a large chink of cash will at some point become available, just have to wait for all the legal shit to clear and you know how that can take, if the legal reps involved would spend less time stroking each others dicks over who gets the best deal and actually did their job shit would happen a lot quicker but oh well.

Played this in VR, holy fucking shit sweet jesus balls.

I got full on phantom limb syndrome after 4 hours of playing it.

Not got it properly set up yet, and have to play it on low because the rift demands 75 - 80 FPS to be even usuable, but its honestly game changing.
